Läbeshuus Heiligenschwendi
With love for the Läbeshuus.
The house above Lake Thun that many know and love under the name Läbeshuus has stood in Heiligenschwendi since 1905. Generations of guests have come and gone — hikers, conference groups, people seeking rest, travellers passing through.
Today the house is run as Sonnegg. The Läbeshuus isn’t gone — it lives on in the character, the atmosphere, and the many small details that make the house what it is.
What was the Läbeshuus
For decades the Läbeshuus was known throughout the region — known for hospitality, for the view over Lake Thun, for its role as guesthouse, restaurant and meeting place. Many regulars associate the name with personal memories: a first family dinner, retreat days with the club, a walking break on the terrace.
Why it is now called Sonnegg
With the change of operation in 2026, the house is legally registered as Sonnegg Heiligenschwendi GmbH. The name Sonnegg suits the location — high up, sunny, with a wide view. The Läbeshuus character — simple, warm, careful — remains.
