The Sonnegg has stood in Heiligenschwendi since 1905 — high above Lake Thun, with views of the Bernese Alps. Over more than 120 years, the house has welcomed many guests: people seeking rest, hikers, meeting groups, travellers on their way into the mountains.
A new chapter
We’re carrying the house forward in a way that suits the place. Heiligenschwendi is a mountain village, not a tourist hub. What works here is simple, honest and warm — not elaborate.
We want you to feel welcome, whether you drop in spontaneously after a hike or are planning a weekend with the family. Fair prices, a small but good menu, rooms without frills — with a view that makes up for everything.
The house
The Sonnegg is more than a restaurant or a pension — it’s a place with history. Much has changed over the decades; what has stayed are the setting, the atmosphere and the wish to be a good host.
